These Terms of Use (“Terms”) govern your use of RemodelCheck.com and services provided by RemodelCheck (“RemodelCheck,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By accessing our website, submitting project information, purchasing a service, or using a RemodelCheck report, you agree to these Terms.
Our Services
RemodelCheck provides independent residential construction consulting and advisory services.
Depending on the service purchased, RemodelCheck may review contractor proposals, estimates, scopes of work, contracts, allowances, exclusions, payment schedules, plans, specifications, and other project information.
Our objective is to help homeowners better understand their proposed remodeling project, identify areas that may warrant clarification, and develop informed questions before or during construction.
RemodelCheck Is Not Your Contractor
RemodelCheck is not the contractor performing your project and does not supervise, direct, control, or warrant the work of your contractor, subcontractors, designers, architects, engineers, or other project participants.
You remain responsible for selecting, hiring, and managing the professionals involved in your project.
Not Legal Advice
RemodelCheck is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice.
Our review of a contract or other document is from a construction and project perspective, not a legal interpretation of your rights, obligations, or remedies.
Questions involving contract enforceability, legal rights, disputes, licensing law, liens, insurance coverage, or other legal matters should be directed to a qualified attorney.
Not Architectural or Engineering Advice
RemodelCheck does not provide architectural, structural engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, geotechnical, surveying, or other licensed design services.
Comments regarding plans, drawings, specifications, or construction methods are provided only from a general construction-review perspective.
No Site Inspection
Unless specifically stated otherwise in writing, RemodelCheck services are performed remotely based upon information provided by the customer.
A RemodelCheck review is not a physical property inspection, construction inspection, code inspection, home inspection, or verification of actual field conditions.
Pricing and Estimates
Any discussion of construction pricing, cost ranges, allowances, or potential costs represents professional opinion based on the information available at the time of review.
Construction pricing varies significantly based on location, market conditions, project complexity, contractor operations, labor availability, material selections, site conditions, schedule, and other factors.
RemodelCheck does not guarantee that a contractor's price is high, low, fair, accurate, or complete, nor do we guarantee the ultimate cost of a project.
Information Provided by You
Our review depends on the completeness and accuracy of the documents and information provided to us.
You are responsible for providing relevant project materials. RemodelCheck is not responsible for issues that could not reasonably have been identified because information was missing, inaccurate, outdated, illegible, or not provided.
No Guarantee of Identifying Every Issue
Construction projects involve uncertainty.
A RemodelCheck review is intended to identify meaningful areas of concern based on the materials provided, but it cannot identify every potential omission, discrepancy, cost, code issue, design issue, field condition, change order, dispute, or construction problem.
No RemodelCheck report should be interpreted as a guarantee that a project will proceed without additional costs, delays, changes, or disputes.
Contractor Decisions
Our observations are intended to help you have more informed conversations with your contractor and other project professionals.
A concern identified by RemodelCheck does not necessarily mean that a contractor has made an error, acted improperly, or provided an unreasonable proposal. There may be project-specific information or circumstances that were not available to us.
Turnaround Times
Any turnaround time provided by RemodelCheck is an estimate unless expressly guaranteed in writing. Delays may occur if necessary documents or information are missing or additional clarification is required.
Fees and Refunds
Fees are disclosed before purchase and are based on the service selected.
Because RemodelCheck provides professional services that involve time and analysis, payments may become non-refundable once substantive review work has begun.

Intellectual Property
RemodelCheck reports, templates, scoring systems, review methodologies, website content, branding, and other proprietary materials are owned by RemodelCheck unless otherwise stated.
Customers may use reports prepared for them for their own project and may share them with their contractor, architect, designer, attorney, lender, or other project professionals.
Reports may not be resold, republished, or commercially distributed without permission.
Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RemodelCheck will not be liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, exemplary, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website, services, or reports.
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, RemodelCheck's aggregate liability arising from a particular purchased service will not exceed the amount you paid RemodelCheck for that service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms periodically. The version posted at the time you purchase a service will apply to that purchase unless otherwise required by law.
